Every day in life we make choices – lots of choices. Some choices are big, some are small, some very important, and some fairly trivial.
God is so cool! He gives us the choice to choose life or death. He even tells us which to choose (sort of like a cheat sheet!) We are to choose life!
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:19
Since we don’t walk around asking to die, what does it mean to “choose life”?
Decisions in our lives are either propelling us toward the good plans He has for us, or toward destruction. Whatever does not lead to life, amputate it! You don’t want to wait until it gives you no choice; once you know it leads to death, it must go.
With every decision, large and small, ask yourself the following questions to determine if the choice you make is going to lead you to life or death:
1. Is this leading me to life or to death?
2. Is this serving my mission in life or leading me away from it?
3. Is this pleasing to the Lord?
4. If Jesus were sitting here with me, would I be doing this? (ouch!)
Take some time to really contemplate the choices you make today – and choose life!
